VET NURSES

Clare

Clare Pryor (pictured with Spoodle X Rosie) has been working at Eltham Veterinary Practice for about 4 years now.
She started veterinary nursing initially out of necessity, helping partner Steve in out of hours emergency situations when living in the country. This grew into a permanent job but was then curtailed with the arrival of number one son: Tom, and then number two: Sam. After a few years at home, Clare made a return to work, “to get out of the house, and to be able to help out”. She enjoys chatting to clients, making their day better, and helping to improve the lot of their pets.

One of her latest exploits has been to assemble a menagerie at home. At one stage there were 6 dogs, 3 cats, and 6 chooks. Clare and Steve have recently bred their Bullmastiff Tess, and have kept Lucas, Tess's son, who is very cute but full of cheek. Between kids and animals, and keeping fit walking the dogs, Clare's life is never dull.

Julianne

Julianne started with us in 2003 on reception after a previous life in the hospitality industry. As the first person that you deal with, she understands the importance of customer service, as well as a gentle approach to anxious pets being admitted for surgery.

Julianne has recently been promoted to Office Manager, and this allows her to combine reception work that she really enjoys (namely helping customers and their pets) with working behind the scenes organising the various events Eltham Veterinary Practice is involved in. These include Eltham Festival and Nillumbik Pet Expo attendance, Pet Pep Primary School visits, Pet Dental Month, and the Winter Blanket Drive.

Julianne also has a special interest in behaviour, and loves helping clients build their relationship with their pets via training, including being involved with Puppy School.

Julianne's pets consist of Zeek, a lively 3 year old Jack Russell terrier X (pictured), and Kit the independent 10 year old Moggy cat. When not at work, she spends time with her 6 year old daughter Caitlin, loves visiting friends, eating out, or just sitting back relaxing watching a DVD.

Amanda

Amanda, (pictured here with her dog "Harley") has been working at Eltham Veterinary Practice for over 3 years now as a veterinary nurse. Her passionate interest in animal welfare, makes her one of our most caring and compassionate nurses, but that doesn't stop her from being bright and bubbly too. Amanda works a second job helping at her father's business, so she's no stranger to hard work, but she always has time for a chat too. She is now the senior veterinary nurse at Eltham Vet Practice having finished her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill Tafe in 2008.

Her interests range from riding and caring for her pony, "Sugar", to shopping, going out with friends, and walking her dog "Harley" a much loved 4yo Border Collie. Amanda also enjoys listening to music, either pop, R & B or house, and going camping up at the Murray.

Amanda loves many aspects of her job, and in particular she says: ‘you can't beat the satisfaction of seeing a pet back to health and reunited with its owners after a long hospital stay for a severe illness'. She also loves getting to know all our clients and pets, and enjoys giving professional advice that will improve pets lives.

Melissa

Melissa is the latest addition to our nursing/reception staff. She joined us in November 2008, and we're very happy to have her. Melissa's warm smile and friendly manner has already made her popular with pet owners and pets alike. Melissa is enjoying her new role in improving pets lives, after various other jobs that have included McDonalds, and more recently Cottage Kennels Boarding Kennels. Melissa is currently studying for her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing.

Melissa's family are all animal lovers, with a menagerie consisting of 2 Border Collies, a cocker spaniel, 3 cats, and some aquarium fish. Melissa herself has ‘Kelsie', a 3 year old Female Border Collie, that she got from a farm when she was a pup.

Outside of work Melissa can be found socialising or out for dinner with friends, studying, caring for her family's many pets, walking Kelsie or at the gym. Melissa is pictured here with one of her favorite patients, Charlie.
