Paws in the Park 2010 was a great day out

Eltham Veterinary Practices' dog walk and fun day at Eltham Lower Park was run on the 28th March this year. Close to 100 canine attendees and their owners registered by 10.15am, and after a brief address by Dr Gus Braniff, and Renee Visentin (our dog trainer) everyone set off. 

A warm Autumn day provided the backdrop for the event, and the procession of people and their dogs who made the 3km walk from Eltham Lower on a circuit around Wingrove Park were lucky to see Eltham's parkland at its best. 



Our aim was to promote 3 things:


1)  responsible pet ownership 
2)  keeping pets and owners healthy
3)  socialisation of dogs and dog owners 

After the walk along some of Eltham's great walking paths, attendees were able to enjoy a free sausage sizzle, face painting for the kids, a petting farm, products displays and the Eltham Veterinary Practice Pet Parade - compared by Dr Gus Braniff.

The best dressed dog award was closely fought between a Chihuahua, a German Short Haired Pointer and the eventual winner Golden Retriever, ‘Annabell' Dingjan with her wig and cape. Some great tricks were demonstrated as well for the best trick award. Thanks to our sponsors Fruitbowl Production, and Iams Pet Food for the prizes.

From feedback received, people did really enjoy the event and enthused about coming again. Our 4 legged friends also had plenty of fun, judging by the amount of wagging tails and we look forward to running this event again next year. Please email us any suggestions via the Contact Us form
