VET NURSES

Julianne

MainPic

Julianne started with us in 2003 on reception after a previous life in the hospitality industry. As the first person that you deal with, she understands the importance of customer service, as well as a gentle approach to anxious pets being admitted for surgery.

Julianne has recently been promoted to Office Manager, and this allows her to combine reception work that she really enjoys (namely helping customers and their pets) with working behind the scenes organising the various events Eltham Veterinary Practice is involved in. These include Eltham Festival and Nillumbik Pet Expo attendance, Pet Pep Primary School visits, Pet Dental Month, and the Winter Blanket Drive.

Julianne also has a special interest in behaviour, and loves helping clients build their relationship with their pets via training, including being involved with Puppy School.

Julianne's pets consist of Zeek, a lively 3 year old Jack Russell terrier X (pictured), and Kit the independent 10 year old Moggy cat. When not at work, she spends time with her 6 year old daughter Caitlin, loves visiting friends, eating out, or just sitting back relaxing watching a DVD.

Amanda

Amanda, (pictured here with her dog "Harley") has been working at Eltham Veterinary Practice for over 3 years now as a veterinary nurse. Her passionate interest in animal welfare, makes her one of our most caring and compassionate nurses, but that doesn't stop her from being bright and bubbly too. Amanda works a second job helping at her father's business, so she's no stranger to hard work, but she always has time for a chat too. She is now the senior veterinary nurse at Eltham Vet Practice having finished her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill Tafe in 2008.

Her interests range from riding and caring for her pony, "Sugar", to shopping, going out with friends, and walking her dog "Harley" a much loved 4yo Border Collie. Amanda also enjoys listening to music, either pop, R & B or house, and going camping up at the Murray.

Amanda loves many aspects of her job, and in particular she says: ‘you can't beat the satisfaction of seeing a pet back to health and reunited with its owners after a long hospital stay for a severe illness'. She also loves getting to know all our clients and pets, and enjoys giving professional advice that will improve pets lives.

Jess

Jess is our other recent staffing addition, having joined us in August last year as a trainee Veterinary Nurse. She completes her veterinary nurse certificate at the end of this year.

Jess comes from a science background, having recently completed her bachelor degree in Animal Science and Management at Melbourne Uni. Apart from study, Jess's passion for animals can be seen with her volunteer work experience in Thailand and Indonesia with elephants, sun bears, orang-utans, and several other species.

Growing up in Gippsland, Jess has always loved being outdoors and spending time with animals. Her family menagerie currently includes horses (Tippy and Haha), cats (Tabitha, Rascal and Kitten), dogs (Penny and Scruffy), and chickens and budgies.

Jess enjoys talking to owners and pet lovers about animal care and health issues, and loves to hear all those weird and funny stories that pet feature in from time to time.

When she's not at work, Jess can be found going to the beach, walking or jogging, and she also loves travelling, particularly to new places.

Deb James

MainPic

September 2006 was a sad month as we thought we'd seen the last of Deb our friendly redhead Veterinary Nurse at Eltham Veterinary Practice. We'd farewelled to her life as a full time mother.

Four years later we've welcomed Deb back to a part time Reception role. Her boys Callum and Brodie don't need Mum around all the time now, so in case life isn't busy enough Deb has come back to work.

Debbie brings a combination of good humour, rapport with clients, and attention to detail. Our canine and feline patients will particularly benefit from her caring and kindness.

Apart from her 2 boys, Deb also looks after her 3 moggies Avie, Maddie, and Rumtum, and her Budgeriegar, Peri. Fortunately, Craig, her husband is also there to lend a hand, particularly when she wants to go to the footy to see her beloved 'Pies'. We just hope Collingwood doesn't win the flag or we'll never hear the end of it.

Amy

MainPic

Amy is the latest addition to our reception staff. She joined Eltham Veterinary Practice in October 2010, and we're very happy to have her. Amy's cheerful personality has already made her popular with pet owners and pets alike. She comes to us from another pet industry role after previous jobs in hospitality and 3 years as a full time student studying podiatry.

Having grown up and gone to school in Eltham, Amy sees many familiar faces coming into the practice. She lives locally with her parents, family and a menagerie consisting of 4 dogs: ‘Bo' and ‘Bing' the border collie crosses, and ‘Kuta' and ‘Pepper' - Pomeranian crosses, a Burmese cat called ‘Whoopi', 2 pigs: ‘Boris' and ‘Lulu', 8 chooks, and 10 cows and calves.

Amy enjoys chatting to clients, making their day better, and helping to improve the lot of their pets. She is currently studying Dog Behaviour and Training at the National Dog Training Federation which she finishes in early 2011. Don't hestitate to ring Amy with any pet behaviour problems, she'd love to help out.

Outside of work, Dog training and looking after her menagerie, Amy likes going for a run, eating chocolate or any nice food, going out to dinner with friends and spending time with George, her rugby playing boyfriend. Life is never dull for this girl!
